• Result: your account belongs to someone else, used for spam, scams or ransom.

Some of these pages even claim “we never ask for your password” right next to a password field. When the promise contradicts the form, walk away.

Quick ways to spot a fake

• It asks for your password and 2FA code — close it. A legitimate analytics tool’s website has no need for your password.
• Check the domain. Lookalike addresses with a different ending (.net, .info, .xyz copies of the real site) are the classic impersonation move.
• Look for real store listings. Genuine apps ship through reviewed stores like the App Store and Chrome Web Store; fakes usually insist you “log in from the browser”.
• Distrust “instant notifications, 24/7 monitoring” claims. Instagram doesn’t allow that kind of access; whoever promises it is either lying or doing risky things with your account.

1. Change your Instagram password immediately (from another device if possible).
2. Reset two-factor authentication and regenerate your backup codes.
